Our Team

Mark Bystrom is the President & CEO of Jurva Leak Testing. In 2005, he acquired the company from the founder, Ed Jurva (his father-in-law). Mark provides helium leak testing and consulting for clients around the world. From petroleum storage to aseptic food processing, he has yet to meet a challenge too difficult to solve. Mark works closely with clients to develop trusted relationships and provides them with well-reasoned strategies for their helium leak testing needs.

Mark holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree and is Level 3 certified for helium leak testing under ASNT-TC-1A. As a testament to his skills and abilities, Mark is recognized as an expert in hermeticity by Intota. Intota is a leader in providing clientele with the best scientific and engineering expertise available. In addition, he has presented at the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE).

Craig Bystrom, brother of Mark, is a Helium Leak Test Specialist. Craig provides hands-on leak testing services for clients around the world. Craig is Level 2 certified under ASNT-TC-1A.

Prior to joining Jurva Leak Testing, Craig worked in the manufacturing and industrial field for more than 20 years. He brings extensive diagnostic and testing capabilities. As a Class A machinist and electrical motor specialist, he performed diagnostic analysis, teardown and inspections, repair, and trouble shooting. His specialties included welding (stick, wire feed, MIG & TIG) and re-machining of parts. Craig received mechanical and electrical training from numerous organizations, including: EASA Inc., PdMA Corporation, and the Schaffler Group USA, Inc.

James is a Helium Leak Test Specialist and provides testing services for clients across the United States, as well as internationally. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Prior to joining Jurva Leak Testing, he worked in the precast concrete and metal building products industry as a drafter, engineer and as an engineering/drafting manager. During that time, he excelled at problem solving, design, scheduling, and project management—meeting deadlines, as well as leading and motivating others.

James frequently worked on  more than 100 projects at a time and was responsible for ensuring that the drafting and engineering needs of the entire company were met. He also served on advisory boards and committees for the drafting programs at several Minneapolis area colleges. Attention to detail and ability to multitask are a few of his great assets and they continue to serve him well in his career with Jurva Leak Testing.

A veteran in the field of helium leak testing, with more than 40 years of leak testing experience and the holder of four patents, Ed Jurva devoted his entire career to the field of hermeticity. As the founder of Jurva Leak Testing, he established the company as a worldwide leader in the field of helium mass spectrometry.

Ed formed Jurva Leak Testing following a 20-year career with Medtronic, Inc., the world’s leading supplier of cardiac pacemakers. As a senior manufacturing engineer, he developed and implemented methodologies to ensure the hermeticity of Medtronic’s pacemaker components. He was Level 3 certified under ASNT-TC-1A and served as a hermeticity expert for Intota. In addition, he presented at leading industry conferences, including: National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), The Above Ground Storage Tank Conference, and The Worldwide Petroleum Conference for the Defense Fuel Supply Center.
